Preparation
- Read through the IMAGES module of Digital Media Basics and complete all tasks outlined there including the quiz at the end.
- If you have not already done so, please sign up for a free account on Weebly.com and download the Acorn image editor or the Affinity Designer image editor (level 2 students). You may also be interested in trying the online drawing software, Sketch Pad. And a useful tool for removing background images from photos and social media projects is Adobe Express (formerly Adobe Spark). The free account is all you need.
- For older versions of Acorn, use this download link and download the version that works with your version of MacOSX. http://flyingmeat.com/acorn/docs/faq.html
Assignments
- All students - Create a music notation collage containing the following: Music notation from NoteFlight or Sibelius, colored annotations using text and arrows to explain aspects of the notation, and a head shot of yourself with a transparent background. Finally, add a nice big title at the top using any display font you like.
- Level 2 students - Create a logo at HD size (1280 x 720) for one of the classes you teach. Use only vector objects and text (including picture fonts if desired). Export your logo as an SVG file and as a PNG. Use the logo from Digital Media Basics as a possible inspiration or look online at other logos to get some ideas.
